Towards the end of december i went to visit the christmas market at the Woluwe school, and it gave me a bunch of ideas on creating school markets and various other ‘special days’ at our school.
I don’t know about others, but somtimes, yeh, school DOES seem a bore to me, so why not make it much more interesting by organising our OWN small comittees or come up with ideas that really ARE effective??
(many things might be proposed at the actual school comittee itself, but not everyone who has creative ideas is a member of that, or wants too, — at least when i found out about it, it was too late already to sign up unfortunately
)
Apart from the odd ‘cake sale’ we have at our school, or concert, or health day –> why not dedicate a WHOLE day at our school, helping charity? instead of taking indirect actions and just selling the charity stuff to kids… We could be dedicating one whole day on doing all sorts of co-operative and physical actions to ‘save the planet’, or ‘help the poor’ because not everyone reads the interesting odd posters around the school about saving the enviroment. I have a feeling all we learn is the facts, but take no action against or for the subjects/projects we support.
Anyway, so i thought of some things, but yes, that DOES mean a lot or student organising, like springfest!! =D
So here were my ideas:
- having our own easter market, were students bring in home made stuff and display it all around the school (presumably day before the holidays start – parents can come in too)
- more school balls/proms?
- Skills day, where we could all work on a home made project then bring it into school (too much influence from american movies?? xD)
- Thought day (everyone writes there thought out on A4 paper or can even make a poster, and display it around the school (need time to read all that)
- We could organise a drawing committee, for the people with drawing skills (notably there are quite a few people i know including myself who draw quite well in the school)
- Any other sorts of committee? (sewing? DIY?)
- on peace day we could form a gigantic peace sign made out of students in the basketball court of the secondary..
- make a ggantic human pyramid in the playground.
- biggest skipping game? (with whole school – or easier 1 whole year – this might be interesting for younger years) – i actually read in the guines world book or records that many school tried to brake records, because of course the amount of people gathered in one space, its AMAZING what you can do with a crowd!!!
- Colour day! everyone comes in dressed completely from top to bottom as their favourite colour..
- Biggest domino wall? Everyone brings in a domino and places is it one after the other in a row so as to create a pattern.
- No pants day! Everyone comes in half naked.. (ok, maybe not)
- Umbrella day, eveyone comes in with an umbrella
- Breakfast day! Who can make the best toast with eggs and beans? or just poached egg, or omelette…?? (electrical appliences needed, can take place in the big atrium between a A and B juring the first 3 periods of school one day!!!!)
- Art competition /talent show?
- Student teaching day! We TEACH the teachers what students know about video-games, life in general while young, clothes, technology, handling pressure, what you do with friends, too much studying, your opinions (they ask the questions)…
Did you like these ideas? Have any more? POST them on the blog yourself!! but for all this we obviously need more people with ideas, and of course organising, and money probably…. But the possibilities are endless!!!
All that im saying basically when your bored of life, YOU are always there to make it interesting, and that doesn’t necessarily include changing it!! Just all you need is IMAGINATION, and im sure many of you have big ones, so go ahead and tell people about them!!! Wanna vote for the ideas?
…
thats it!! hope people will like it
Nicole
I loved all the ideas
including the ‘thought day’. What about the ‘Crazy Day’ (they have it in Uccle), the ‘Pyjama Day’ or for example when it’s Saint Patriks day we all go dressed in green or when it’s Spain’s day we go in yellow and red
Well, i hope we’ll have something else than only Carnaval or the Health Day !
yeh thats what i think too..
Nicole I like all your ideas and I fully support them. Count me as one participant.
