The mystery of Easter Island
Easter Island got its name from the fact that the Dutch, it was discovered on Easter Sunday in 1722. Led by Admiral Jacob Roggeveen, the group of sailors was surprised the previously unknown island deep in the Pacific seemed to find Ocean. It as if the Islanders somehow knew about the sailors in distress the unexpected storm. They lit torches along the coast to guide the ship safely to the island. Think of the visitors to see "a surprise to the locals bow to the feet, which are giant stone figures apparently. Historical evidence shows that the residents are unusual because they appear to come not from the same race. They were mixed in the color, size, shape and appearance. Some seemed to leaders such as chiefs or priests, while others were obviously laborers. In truth, but most Dutch traveler of the existence of the giant statues were confused. It seemed inconceivable that none of the neighbors attached to the island had the kind of skills needed to construct the huge totems that they worship as gods. After moving to the Dutch, the Easter Island lived in peace for about 50 years of its existence was known to be good. In October 1770 decided the Spanish invasion of the island to convince the natives to sign papers declaring an area of Spain. They confirmed many of the stories of the Netherlands, both on the islanders themselves and their unusual stone statues. However, an English navigator, Captain James Cook named the island which was established in March 1774 attended, paints a completely different picture. On board his ship was a Polynesian who was able to converse a little with the islanders. While the two languages were similar, they also had important differences, which made communication difficult and slow. However, he could find that the islanders admitted that they were not statues, believed placed there in honor of the last chiefs built. He also found out that locals the monument base as the burial place ground.Unlike previous visitors to the island, but the islanders were in the English disease and believed that they suffer from malnutrition. Moreover, there was no visible to the white-skinned islanders, who had reported from previous expeditions track. There was no big change there in the statues themselves, many were thrown out of their stone platforms, and were broken into several pieces. After an investigation determines Cook and his men, that the island's volcano has erupted, and perhaps have devastated both the people of the island and its statues. It was estimated that only 700 people remained on Easter Island, it seemed unlikely that time.Investigations, confirm that the island's current residents had something to do with the construction of the giant statues. For reasons never understood, the Islanders appeared no attempt to repair the broken idols.Twelve years later French expedition came to the island and found it completely changed once again have made. The population had increased almost 2000 and there was no sign of hunger or disease. In fact, the island seemed to be prosperous, to believe the French, that the islanders could be a false report about Cook and his men have done, to be led. She suspects that many of the islanders had hidden in nearby caves, and to prevent their food with them, that they are stolen. Although the French do not specifically refer to light-skinned islanders, left the expedition artist little doubt that they actually exist on the island. In fact, to imply his renderings that the islanders clearly European features. If the islanders of the English visitors had hidden, seemed to have had prophetic. Starting in 1805, both Peruvian and American ships take attacked the island, many of the inhabitants to slaves who died during the trip because of smallpox to replace. By 1877, only 111 people were left alive on Easter Island and only 36 of them had offspring. In 1888, the island was annexed to Chile and began slowly but surely recovering. Upon receipt of Chilean citizens in the late 60s the locals have come together with tourism as a means to thrive support. But what the statues? In 1886, a group of Americans, the island surveyed and identified 555 statues. However, additional archaeological excavations, many more, revealed perhaps as many as 1,000. The statues were equivalent to six to 33 feet, but all were done in a standard style, and form with elongated heads and human torsos. Arms were held tight to the sides or on the stomach. Earlobes were stretched out of shape. Eyes consisted of red and white stone. Coral and red stones accents mounted the tops of some statues that seemed to point to a headdress of some sort. The statues were in the interior of the island face, many of them in groups of two to 15 years. It is estimated that 250-300 of the statues seemed to coast. Although there are many stories and theories about the statues, how and why they were built, there is no definitive proof that none of them are valid. And in truth, what would be the fun in solving the mystery of a shadow of a doubt? Half the fun is in theorizing about their existence. Was it a race of space travelers, who built the statues? Erich von Damke, an ancient astronaut theorists believe in it. Lump "No one could have such a gigantic, free of lava with small primitave stone tools … The men who could execute such a perfect job must have had modern tools, "he concludes. He theorized that a group of intelligent beings could have stranded on the island and is responsible for taking the time by carving the large number of statues. Was a previous advanced race of people? Some scientists believe that there are possible.Platforms as those on which the heads were mounted, had already in 1000 AD carvings made of materials such as lava had been built already in 1680 possible. They believe that the island's first inhabitants would continue to be – - similar to the proposed residents of Atlantis – - and the subsequent war, a marked change in the island culture. Were caused the natives that they all showed to be incapable of building actually responsible for them after all? This theory seems to be the least acceptable. Everyone who met and conversed with the early inhabitants of the island seem to agree that they were not capable of the type of work needed to construct statues.I Easter Island, for one, not one answer, and I'm not sure that I would own one. Sometimes myths, legends and mysteries should be allowed to exactly what they are and no longer. Sun generations after us to investigate it yet with the same childlike awe and amazement that we have done. Perhaps that the purpose of the island was all the time.
