I’ve always liked this movie. A lot. Not many people do. When I heard it was now out on Blu Ray I jumped at the chance before reading reviews.. I’m not a gigantic fan of ‘the grain is supposed to be there’ argument. Maybe it is maybe it isn’t but I don’t care for it. Like Fargo, though not as dreadful, the backgrounds in most every scene ‘crawl’ with noise (grain? ) which to my search for looks like a digital ‘distortion’.

Call me some rube who doesn’t know about such technology if you wish, but when I eye movies like Murky Knight and King Kong that witness like absorbing photographs I interrogate the same with any movie I am PAYING money for, let alone paying for twice. When I notice older movies like 2001 A Region Odyssey gape like it was filmed yesterday it’s hard to stomach a transfer such as this.
I have seen worse transfers I express but my rant doesn’t extinguish there – they saw fit to include the standard def version of the movie which is a nice trinket factual? Well, yes and no, the commentary is ONLY included on THAT version of the movie.. which I guess makes some sense because I honestly don’t contemplate the Blu Ray version is up to par anyway.

If you have the dvd version of this movie, I would pass on this transfer and set aside the $20 for studios that actually occupy the time to remaster the footage instead of slapping a 1080p logo on a Blu case and hoping that it is enough – it isn’t.
I HAD THIS FILM IN SD AND WATCHED IT MAYBE 6 OR 7 TIMES IN THE PAST FEW YEARS. I FINALLY DECIDED TO JUMP ON THE BLU RAY AND Bear ME IT’S REALLY WORTH THE SWITCH THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BD I Net IT LOOKS AS IT WAS Reduce THIS YEAR, Take IT YOU CERTAINLY WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED Record,Record QUALITY,SOUND QUALITY,EVERYTHING IS WORTH EVERY CENT AND BY THE Method Brand IS VERY CHEAP.
